Eric Doll's profile

Gates Rubber Plant - Collaborative Studio

The Gates Brownfields site design focused on the links between program, site analysis, and site design; more specifically, landscape systems (circulation, water, utilities, and plant and animal ecologies). With a light rail line splitting the site in two, careful placement of two land bridges allow for efficient circulation and appropriate land use. Many cultural spaces have been programmed across the entire site including: recreation fields and gym, performance and education centers, riverfront promenade, communal housing, and gardens. With each programmed area, I developed a specific plant community based on the native ecosystems found throughout Denver’s regional context. Plants are located for habitat suitability, sun/shade needs, education, screening, and aesthetics.
